Men's wool overcoat
Should I size up to fit my overcoat over a suit?
As a general rule, woollen overcoats are designed to be worn over clothing. A Cordings overcoat will sit comfortably over a jacket without pulling across the shoulders or feeling restrictive through the chest. However, If you are between sizes, sizing up is recommended as a slightly roomier fit drapes better and preserves the clean, elegant lines that define a classic overcoat silhouette.
Where should the hem of an overcoat sit?
The hem of an overcoat should ideally fall just below the knee, typically around mid-calf. This length offers the most flattering appearance and is the far more traditional choice. An overcoat should cover the suit jacket and upper portion of the trousers while maintaining a strong, tailored silhouette. A hem that sits too short risks looking unbalanced, while one that falls too long can overwhelm a shorter frame.
