Ladies Country Coats

The majority of our coats are made from wool, primarily tweed; the classic country fabric. Tweed is insulating, hardwearing and brings a great depth of colour to the garment due to the interwoven threads of varying hues. We also have trench coats crafted from waxed cotton, for a more urban and weather ready look.

Ladies Tweed Coats are ideal for winter. Often cut in a longer style, they cover more of the body in heavy, insulating fabric. Tweed is incredibly windproof and also, to some extent, water resistant. Tweed has long been the choice of material for those Brits who work outdoors or in the field, due to it's weather-proof qualities and long lifetime.

Many Cordings country coats are water resistant. Our waxed cotton trench coats in particular can protect you from light showers.

You don't want to be wearing too many layers under a country coat, as the coat should keep you warm. Too many layers can cause you to overheat and create too much padding underneath. It is unwise, for example, to wear a jacket underneath a country coat. Ideally, a shirt underneath a luxurious piece of knitwear is the correct choice.
