Men's Wool Overcoats

What oz wool coat do I need for Winter?

A lighter weight wool coat can be anywhere between 12oz - 20oz. These coats are for more mild climates, such as London, where temperatures rarely drop too low. A hefty, more protective weight of woollen coat for incredibly cold environments should be between 20oz - 28oz.

How long should an overcoat be?

Traditionally, a woollen overcoat should fall just below the knee. This creates a more elongated and stylish look than the more contemporary mid-thigh length.

How do you care for a wool overcoat?

Store on a broad, shaped hanger, without any cover to allow the fabric to breath and recover after each wear. Do not dry clean your wool overcoat too often as the chemicals can strip the fabric. Twice a year at most. It can also help to brush the fabric to remove any build up of dust or dirt.

What is a Top Coat?

A topcoat is a lighter, more streamlined alternative to a traditional overcoat. Typically cut in a finer, lighter-weight wool, it sits closer to the body and is intended to be worn over a suit for smart occasions rather than as heavy outerwear.
