Portobello Top Coat

Woven in Yorkshire from a remarkably weighty 24oz (720gsm) pure wool cloth, the Portobello Top Coat is a testament to the excellence of British textiles and sustainable craftsmanship. The cloth is part of a unique range of undyed fabrics, created from naturally coloured British fleece sourced from Jacob, Shetland and Welsh Black sheep. No dyes or chemicals are used at any stage, only natural soaps in the finishing process, resulting in a fabric that is both entirely natural and exceptionally low in environmental impact.

Spun, woven and finished within a five-mile radius in Huddersfield, this cloth embodies a truly local production process, minimising its carbon footprint while preserving centuries of Yorkshire weaving expertise. Its substantial weight provides warmth and structure, allowing the coat to remain unlined, a deliberate choice that enhances comfort and breathability without compromising insulation.

Tailored with Cordings’ signature attention to detail, the coat features engraved buttons, two external pockets, and an internal zip pocket finished with Alcantara jets. The sleeves are lined in rich aubergine for ease of layering and a discreet touch of colour against the deep wool exterior.
