The Chap Magazine and Cordings

On a sunny October morning, Gustav Temple the editor of The Chap magazine, along with David Evans the renowned menswear blogger popped into Piccadilly to look through the Autumn collection, try on some outfits and take some rather splendid photographs.

DISCUSSING THE DELIGHTS OF DONEGAL – GUSTAV AND DAVID RELAX IN PICCADILLY

It was a treat to discuss the delights of Donegal and Shetland with such a knowledgeable pair. Gustav along with editing The Chap since 1999 has written numerous books including The Chap Manifesto, Cooking for Chaps and How to Be Chap, his biography on The Chap website cites his commendable mission statement as ’ridding the world of pantaloons de Nimes, middle-aged men dressed as teenagers and general uncouth behaviour’.

GUSTAV TEMPLE – INTENT ON RIDDING THE WORLD OF PANATLOONS DE NIMES

David’s award winning Grey Fox Blog, on style for mature gentleman, is an informed supporter of British style and makers. His mission statement can be summed up in his advice on how to dress ‘age is a privilege, not a threat: work with it, not against it. Buy classic and simple styles and as you develop confidence you can become more sartorially adventurous.’

After an hour or so looking through the collection we headed out into busy Piccadilly. It is often a lot easier than you would think to take photographs in London. People are generally very obliging and for the ‘Abbey Road’ zebra crossing shot, cabbies and even a police car sat patiently as we crossed back and forth!

STOPPING THE TRAFFIC ON PALL MALL

The two other models Rachel Handler @miss_rosie_rivots and Christopher Styles @piccadillychap were brilliantly enthusiastic, and the photographer Peter Clarke @peterclarkeimagesuk took some wonderfully atmospheric shots.
