Dressing the Man(nequin) with Richard

Our “Dressing the Man(nequin) series is back! This month, one of our menswear sales assistants, Richard, has styled our new Langholm Tweed jacket in a transitional, mid-season look.

What made you choose this British country style Richard?

“I wanted to keep the outfit relatively tonal in terms of the jacket, shirt, and knitwear, using the accessories and the trousers to pull in the over check burgundy colour of the jacket. I’ve used one of our royal brushed shirts, it has a touch of wool in the cloth blend which creates this rather luxurious, soft, and supple feel to it. I think the pale blue shirt is so versatile, it will slip seamlessly under most jackets and happens to match the tonal hues of the other layers I’ve used here.”

“The ¼ zip jumper is great as it can be used as an extra layer of warmth, worn under the jacket, or simply worn by itself. As a side note, the tartan green version is a great piece to team together with the more rust and brown coloured jackets we have in the collection.”

“I think these horizontal cords are spectacular, I’ve not seen one before and pleased to see additional colours being added to this season’s collection. I thought the burgundy trousers made the check in the jacket pop and perfectly ties this British country look together”

“Lastly, I’ve used burgundy themed accessories to complete this English country outfit. Definitely underrated, a cravat is such a classic neck piece that I like to encourage all our customers to have in their wardrobe.”

What occasion would this outfit be appropriate for?

“I would say this is a perfect weekend outfit, adding or removing certain aspects, such as the knitwear or a cravat, makes this outfit an acceptable look for all occasions. I would also say that the ¼ zip jumper is a great casual business look, I see more and more people opting for a jumper like this on my commute into London.”

What’s your favourite piece from the Cordings AW23 Collection?

“Aside from the pieces I’ve used today in this outfit, I have to say I’m rather taken by the Conrad Car Coat. As ever, championing British made pieces, this coat really sells itself, but I do enjoy running through the endless ‘bells and whistles’ this coat features, it really is a masterpiece in British tailoring.”

Tell us about yourself Richard!

“Whilst I’m relatively new to the Cordings team, I have almost 40 years of experience in menswear. I spent around 10 years in Harrods and was part of the training team for the men’s shop floor, but I have spent the last 30 years working on Jermyn Street. So far, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my move over to Piccadilly and getting to know the team at Cordings, it is great to be part of such an experienced group of people and getting to know our Cordings customers.”

If you would like to add any of the garments from this “Dressing the man(nequin)” series to your autumn wardrobe, feel free to come and visit Richard and our store team at 19 Piccadilly, or if you prefer to shop online, we have plenty of new stock in our collection.

Until next time!
