Men's Moleskin Trousers
What is moleskin?
Unlike the name suggests, moleskin is not made from moles, nor is it made from any animal. It is in fact a dense, tightly woven cotton fabric that is repeatedly brushed on one side by wire bristles, which creates the fluffy texture on it's surface.
What season should you wear moleskin trousers?
Due to the heavy nature of the fabric, moleskin is ideal for Autumn and Winter. It is naturally insulating and hefty in weight, so may be impractical in especially hot weather.
Are moleskin trousers smart or casual?
Moleskin trousers can be quite versatile. Naturally, being a classic fit, they easily pair with a jacket, shirt and tie. However, they are probably worn best with a smart crewneck or V-neck jumper, over a shirt.
Do moleskin trousers fade?
Dry cleaning is actually the preferred method of cleaning for moleskin and will significantly reduce fading compared to regular machine washing. Because the fabric isn't agitated in water, the dye is preserved much better and the napped surface stays in better condition for longer.
