For our Autumn/Winter 2024 season, Cordings is introducing a collection of ethically hand-beaded dark brown leather belts, crafted by a collective of Maasai women in Kenya. The Maasai, with a rich history of beaded jewellery, imbue their beadwork with cultural significance: red symbolises bravery and unity, yellow or orange stands for hospitality, white represents peace, blue signifies energy, green symbolises health, and black represents the people and their endurance. Each belt, taking 1.5 to 2 days to complete, is a testament to their craftsmanship and community spirit.
