William Morris, founder of the Arts and Crafts movement famously stated “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful” and here at Cordings, we feel the same philosophy should be applied when choosing Christmas presents. Whether you are looking for a last minute stocking filler or are investing in a show stopping gift, it is important to ensure that the recipient will be both delighted and importantly get years of use from your choice.
Before we show some suggestions we asked our customer service teams their golden rules of Christmas present buying:
Check the recipients size, don’t guess. If you are aiming to give a tailored garment such as a jacket, trouser or shirt you will need to know their size. If you are unsure of their exact measurement and cannot glean this information, opt for knitwear or even scarves and socks.
Think of what they can wear your gift with. What else do they wear that would complement your present? If the recipient tends to wear classic colours, we suggest keeping your choice within their palette rather than surprising them with a bold choice that will probably either languish in their wardrobe or be exchanged.
Useful presents will always be welcome. Our British made socks and poplin boxer shorts are perennially popular gifts for a good reason. The unique designs and superior quality ensure they are always well received, and the recipients’ collection can be added to over the years.
