The Cordings 'Monty' Jacket draws inspiration from a vintage workwear item called a 'Chore' jacket which has evolved into a popular and versatile wardrobe staple. Traditionally, these jackets were made from hardwearing twill or canvas fabric that could withstand the rigours of constant use, first appearing in late nineteenth century France and dyed originally using a rich and vibrant French blue.

We've used a sturdy panama weave, cotton and linen blend, woven and dyed exclusively for us in Northern Ireland. The cloth is washed at the mill after finishing to give it more of a soft, vintage feel. Once the garment is made up, it is washed again to further improve the handle. Inspired by Monty Don, who regularly sports a similarly styled jacket in his gardening programmes.
