Goodwood Revival 13th – 15th September 2019
The Goodwood Revival is a three-day festival held each September at Goodwood Circuit since 1998 for the types of road racing cars and motorcycle that would have competed during the circuit’s original period—1948–1966.
The festival acts as a showcase for exceptional wheel-to-wheel racing around a classic circuit, untouched by the modern world and relives the glory days of Goodwood Circuit, which ranked alongside Silverstone as Britain’s leading racing venue throughout its active years. Between 1948 and 1966 Goodwood hosted contemporary racing of all kinds, including Formula One, the famous Goodwood Nine Hours race and the celebrated Tourist Trophy sports car race.
Although the cars are the stars on the circuit, one of the major attractions is the period fashion worn by spectators. Detailed, innovative and fun outfits are the order of the day, from smart army uniforms, through 1940’s fashion to sixties mods and rockers. The spectacle of so many outfits is fabulous, and as you would expect Cordings fits in perfectly at the event.
CHOOSING AN OUTFIT
There is no dress code which visitors are required to wear, however the general trend is period style with many using their artistic flair to create an authentic look for the occasion. The fashion worn by the spectators plays a huge part in creating a ‘visit to the past’ mood which makes the whole event that much more unique. There is no reason why anybody ought to dress up, although you will feel so much more involved. If you qualify for central Paddock access, however, gentlemen should wear a jacket and a tie and ladies, a dress or suit.
Cordings tweed suits make the perfect outfit for gents, whilst ladies tweed jacket and skirts, teamed with a Liberty blouse can be styled as an elegant vintage look.
