Dressing The Man(nequin) with Conrad Manasseh
This week we are putting the spotlight on Cordings’ striking Lemon Yellow Corduroy Trousers.
As our experienced sales associate Conrad Manasseh will explain, these trousers are the perfect garment for your summer social calendar!
With the lemon cords taking the leading role, let’s see the outfit that Conrad put together this week.
Take us through the outfit you put together Conrad.
“The lemon corduroy trousers are a lovely new colour which we have not done before, and a great innovation on our classic yellow. They are just the right kind of bright to make a statement while remaining easy to wear and pair. The trousers are our classic cut, high-waisted and with side adjusters and are included in the trouser promotion at the moment.
For a smarter summery look, I paired the lemon cords with our classic Serge blazer. Every man needs a blazer like this, it is a staple piece of clothing that will never go out of style and is perfect for events like Henley and Ascot. I can just imagine a gentleman wearing this outfit with one of our Panama hats – very chic in my opinion. I would like to draw your attention to the smart silver Cordings buttons on this blazer which pick up the luminosity of the trousers rather well.
I then chose a cornflower blue linen shirt to go under the blazer. The brighter blue lightens the darkness of the navy. It gives the wearer the option of a more relaxed look once the blazer is removed. Overall, I really love the mix of textures that you get from the combination of corduroy and linen. The outfit is extremely smart, but in an effortless, easy way.
Finally, I have chosen accessories that are among my favourites that Cordings offers. Each one is timeless in its own right and, like the outfit, they are suited to smart, more dressy events. The paisley cravat in gold brightens the complexion, while the hunting silk hank ties the shirt and blazer together nicely.”
Do you have a name and occasion for your outfit?
“This outfit is the perfect summer calendar outfit. The wearer will look and feel perfectly at home whether they be drinking champagne at Ascot, enjoying some Pimms along the banks at Henley or even standing centre-court-side at Wimbledon with strawberries and cream.”
What is your favourite garment in the men’s collection and why?
“Besides the serge blazer that you see on the mannequin, I really like the silk-blend jackets, such as the Lavenham in brown, green or blue. Whenever you see me in the shop (or out of it), most likely I will be wearing one. They are extremely versatile and the ideal weight and warmth for all seasons. Every season our buyer orders fabrics in different colours and patterns. I always have a spot saved in my wardrobe for at least one!”
Tell us something about yourself.
“Since I was very young, I have followed horse racing closely. My family owns and breeds race horses and it has always been a big part of my life.”
How long have you worked at Cordings and what do you like most about it?
“I have worked at Cordings for 15 years. I believe in the products we sell, they are excellent value and are made with quality fabrics. The Cordings garments that I own personally have served me well over the years and still look just as smart as when I got them. I also really like the work environment and my colleagues.”
