Brown Corduory Fish Tail Trousers

A distinctive revival of a classic Edwardian silhouette, the Cordings Fishtail Corduroy Trousers bring timeless tailoring into our Autumn/Winter 2025/6 collection. Recognised by their high-waisted cut and V-shaped back, resembling the graceful curve of a fish’s tail, this style first found favour in the Edwardian era, when braces were the gentleman’s choice. While the look receded with the rise of the belt, the “fishtail” term was coined in the 1930s when the design enjoyed a second wave of popularity.

Crafted from 100% cotton, 8-wale heavy corduroy (15oz | 460gsm), these trousers offer both structure and comfort. The fishtail waistband, paired with external brace buttons and an adjustable back strap, ensures the trousers sit perfectly when worn with Cordings braces, distributing their weight evenly and reducing pressure on the waistband. Four deep forward pleats (two per side) add ease of movement, while the button fly, Silesia waistband, and square extension with hook and bar fastening underline the attention to traditional detail.

In keeping with their heritage inspiration, drawn from our Plus 4 Breeks, the design features straight side pockets, no back pockets for a cleaner line, and the unique fishtail back for unmistakable character.
