Iconic British outerwear

Men's Country Coats

Since 1839, our men's country coats have embodied British style, eminently practical and perennially stylish. Our classic collection includes the legendary Covert Coat. Our coats are best teamed with traditional shirts, country trousers, tailored waistcoats and, when it's colder, tweed jackets.

Traditional British outerwear since 1839, our men's country coats have been designed to be eminently practical and perennially stylish.

The Cordings coat collection.

Outerwear was the raison d'etre of the original Cordings business, and the original brass signs on the store 'Waterproofers and Outfitters' are a nod to what is still at the core of what we do.

Our coats and outerwear are built to last.

Details such as storm cuffs, throat tabs and wool linings are not there as design whimsy, but practical features that will ensure you stay dry and warm even in the most inclement weather.

Why are natural fabrics used?

Wool is inherently water repellent, it is robust and can withstand wear in a way that synthetic fabrics struggle to emulate. We use pure cotton that has been tightly woven which also makes it shower proof. These natural fabrics are biodegradable and as we work with smaller mills and makers to produce these cloths, they are also sustainable.

Classic understated styles that don't date.

Many of our coats, such as our Covert Coat and Hampton have been in the collection for over 100 years. Our coats are designed with longevity in mind, and many styles are based on designs found in our extensive archive. We are proud that many of our customers are still wearing the same timeless coats for over forty years.

Every coat has a purpose.

Our collection is designed with end use in mind, our field coats are practical for use in country pursuits, whilst our Donegal coats are made to keep you warm and dry in town.
